After suffering a traumatic injury in his early teens, Karl Andrews started a journey of recovery using his voice in painting at age 24. 'I hope people see my works as uplifting' Karl says. 'Traumatic memories can be overpowering, I like to think of the paint brush as a corrector, healer and wand creating better memories'.
While Karl likes to experiment with painting all subject matter, he says he enjoys painting sunsets most of all. 'Painting a sunset allows me to enjoy pumping colour onto a canvas vigorously, abstractly and freely while giving the audience something solid and recognisable to relate to'.
Karl uses vibrant colours (preferably acrylic medium on canvas) to create his works and is mostly inspired by the Impressionists and Romanticism.
This side of my work DA explores the female figure in detail. The painting above made the Daily Deviations and received 15k hits in one day!
